February 22 - Lent Begins - Ash Wednesday Worship Service

This year Dove of the Desert will connect with Trinity UMC and Faith UMC to hold a combined Ash Wednesday worship service. This very special service will be held at Trinity UMC, 3104 West Glendale Avenue in Phoenix. Mark your calendar and plan to attend! More about Lent
February 27 - Special Congregation Meeting

The purpose of this meeting is to provide membership input into our ongoing relationship with Great Hearts Academy. The GPA lease with Dove expires in June, 2012.
March 4 - Lunch Bunch

Join the Lunch Bunch on Noon on Thursday, March 1 at Abuelo's, 16092 N. Arrowhead Fountains Center (south of Bell and west of 83rd Ave.) Please call Nancy Panzer for reservations and information. The Lunch Bunch meets on the first Thursday of the month for good food and fellowship. Newcomers are always welcome!

March 30, 31 - Lay Speaker Training
Friday, March 30 5 - 9 p.m. & Saturday, March 31, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Dove of the Desert
Two courses: the Basic Course prepares participants to request recognition as Local Church Lay Speakers. This course introduces the three foundational focus areas of Lay Speaking Ministries: Caring Ministries, Christian Leadership and Communications. The Advanced Course, Transforming Evangelism, prepares participants for certification at the conference level. To maintain certification, an advanced course must be taken once every three years. Cost per participant for the Basic Course is $30; Advanced Course is $20. The cost includes Friday evening dinner, Saturday breakfast and lunch.
