 Dove of the Desert United Methodist Church

Dove of the Desert is blessed to have a wealth of musical talent in its midst. From the grass roots sound of the folk group to the majestic voice of the Celebration Singers to the upbeat, contemporary sound of the Praise Team, to the diverse array of vocal and instrumental talent of individuals in the congregation, the music at Dove enriches the worship experience for all ages.


Adults


Celebration Singers

Performing a wide variety of traditional, sacred, contemporary and gospel music, the Celebration Singers mixed chorus brings its majestic voice to the 11 a.m. worship service every Sunday. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Dove Notes

Dove Notes is a women’s chorus that brings beautiful music to the 8 a.m. worship service every Sunday. The chorus performs a variety of musical styles, from traditional and sacred to contemporary and gospel. The group rehearses on Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Perpetual Climb - Praise Team

Dove's praise team, Perpetual Climb, leads Dove's contemporary worship service in hand-clapping, toe-tapping contemporary praise music as well as Spirit-filled worship songs from the heart. The contemporary service is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Folk Group

The Folk Group performs a variety of good ol’ down home folk music on the second Sunday of the month at the 8 a.m. worship service. The group practices Mondays at 7 p.m. Led by Grant and Karen Freeland.

Dove Bells and Desert Bells

Dove's handbell choirs ring out the praise! All are welcome to join regardless of age or experience. The Dove Bells choir meets on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. Desert Bells, our beginner group, meets on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m.

 Youth

Dove Youth Choirs - A Youth Musical Ministry

The Dove youth choirs offer our junior and senior high youth opportunities for fellowship, spiritual growth, development in the fine arts, and fun! The program consists of several groups, and focuses on four components:

Performance – Musical performances both at and outside Dove.
Mission Work – Providing opportunities for community service and outreach.
Devotions – Helping to nurture a personal relationship with God.
Recreation – We have fun!

Dove Youth Mission Trip Choir

The Halos Honor Choir, for senior high schoolers, performs pop, swing, gospel, and contemporary Christian music, as well as sharing God's work through various community performances and volunteer mission work. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Dove Youth Choir Ensembles and Young Adult Choirs

The Dove Youth Choir Ensembles, made up of high schoolers and young adults, perform Christian music and share God’s work through various community performances and volunteer mission work. Rehearsals are at various times during the week in the Sanctuary. The Young Adult Choir will begin by singing 2 to 3 times throughout the balance of the 2011 - 2012 school year.

Children

Dove’s energetic children’s choirs offer children the opportunity to grow both musically and spiritually, connect with other Dove children, and bless the congregation with their song.

Cherub Choir

Leaders: Kacie McSorley and Chelsea Schwark

Dove’s precious children from age 3 through Kindergarten form the Cherub Choir, which performs once a month at various worship services and in the annual Christmas pageant. The choir practices Wednesday evenings from 6 - 6:30 p.m. in Room 6.

The Music Makers

Leaders: Dawn Bell and Stephanie Howard
For children in first through sixth grades. The animated choir performs once a month at various worship services and in the annual Christmas pageant.The choir practices Wednesday evenings from 6 - 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
